Pulp Arena Tour - The BLX effect

Such a thrill to be involved in this project, contributing towards the analog atmosphere of Pulp's recent tour. Our collection of vintage disco lights, 'homemade' cassette effects and general lighting experimentation is endless. We have evolved creatively alongside advancing technologies, so it was a natural fit to invite Pulp's creative team to our studio to find inspiration and to film lighting effects.

These shots below were filmed off the telly and show the BLX effect in its natural habitat. The BLX effect is a cassette effect for Optikinetics Solar 250's and GoboPro LED projectors that was designed by Brendan Clarke at some point in the late 1980's or early 1990's. The effect is made from a mesh screen that is found inside old CRT TV monitors and creates a particularly mesmerising moire effect.
